Making a return to racing after seven weeks of injury problems with both ankles, Shaun Collins came through the test with flying colours and a renewal of confidence. A cautious run saw him finish eighth, only three places down on his best position in this competition. Twenty places later, John Scott was the first veteran home in his highest finish for many years. Arber Baci placed 47th, also his highest placing; unfortunately Tomas Stasionis suffered a recurrence of a injury that had laid him low for three months recently and was unable to finish. The team placed third in Division 2 of the senior men's league with a final position of fifth; with more support from the club's senior middle distance runners a return to Division 1 might well have been achieved. Only Youcef Harizi (B13), Josh Gally (B15) and Shaun Collins have run in all the Met League Fixtures this season. (GH) |
